Youth tournaments in Europe: data for players, coaches and families
PFB Away team · 27 October 2026A youth tournament in northern Europe is a long week: kids, coaches, families, last-minute schedule changes and a WhatsApp group that never stops. Everyone having data saves a lot of trouble.
Where they're played
The Gothia Cup (football) and the Partille Cup (handball) are played in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Dana Cup, in Hjørring, Denmark. The Norway Cup, in Oslo, Norway. All four are in the summer.
PFB Away has no connection with these tournaments. We name them only to describe the trip.
Who needs an eSIM?
Sweden and Denmark are in the EU, and Norway is covered by EU roaming. Anyone with a SIM from an EU country and plenty of data on their plan can travel on their usual plan.
An eSIM is needed by teams from outside the EU (Latin America, the US, the UK…), by families on plans with little data abroad, and for kids' phones on prepaid or with roaming switched off.
What it costs
The Europe plan covers all three countries with one eSIM, in case the trip takes in more than one: 3 GB for 30 days at €3.99. For tournament week with videos and video calls home, 7-day Unlimited Plus is €13.49 and 3-day is €6.99 (October 2026 prices).
For the whole team at once
If the club organises the trip, the Team Pack saves work: pay once and get 15 codes to share on WhatsApp. Every player, coach or family installs their own on their phone in a minute, and the club gets a single invoice.
- The club buys the pack before the trip.
- It sends one code to each person through the team group.
- Everyone redeems it on the website and installs it at home, on wifi.
- On arrival, they switch data to the eSIM line and turn on data roaming.
